Operation Round Up Contributes to Plainfield’s Imagination Lab

On behalf of Hendricks Power Cooperative and its members, a $1,500 donation was made to Plainfield School Corporation’s Imagination Lab. The Imagination Lab is a collaborative, innovative space that focuses on experiential learning. Each Plainfield student, K-5, visits the state-of-the-art lab each month for hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities.
The donation will allow the lab to purchase materials to support Design Thinking for its 2,800 students.
In addition to students participating throughout the academic year, the lab also hosted eight summer camps for students. The camps offered a wide array of activities, from gardening to chemistry to engineering.
The learning space came to fruition in August of 2018, after repurposing the Clarks Creek Natatorium.
"The Imagination Lab is such a beneficial resource to our community," said Dana Cochran, Director of Marketing & Member Engagement at Hendricks Power Cooperative. "The lab provides local students the opportunity to learn new concepts like coding and robotics outside of the traditional classroom setting.”

Operation Round-Up is a voluntary fundraising program that lets members round-up their energy bill to the next whole dollar- the difference is then deposited into the Hendricks Power Cooperative Operation Round-Up Fund which is held at the Hendricks County Community Foundation. Together, Hendricks Power and the Community Foundation determine the most appropriate uses to benefit the community. Anyone interested in receiving funds for the good of the community can contact us for our guidelines and an application.
