2019 Board of Directors Candidates


As a member of Hendricks Power, you are also part owner and have the opportunity to vote for your Board of Directors each year. Your board represents you; the members as users of the cooperative’s services!  Here are your 2019 Candidates for areas one, two and three. 


Don Stinson
Don Stinson is the incumbent director seeking re-election in Area 1. Don and his wife Teresa are residents of the Belleville area in Liberty Township. They have one adult daughter. She and her husband have three children. Stinson was most recently the Superintendent of the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township. He retired in 2012. Also, during his career, he served as a school leader with the South Putnam Community Schools and Mill Creek Community Schools. Stinson is a graduate of Decatur Central High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University, a Master of Science degree in School Administration from Indiana State University and an Ed. S. degree in School Administration from Indiana University. He has been a member of the Hendricks Power Cooperative Board of Directors since 1998 and currently serves as President of the Board. He is a past board member of the Hendricks County Area Planning Commission and is currently a member and Secretary of the Mind Trust Board for Indianapolis. Stinson is also a member of the Indiana Association of Public School Retired Superintendents, and Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Don and Teresa are very active with The Branches Community Church in Plainfield and enjoy time with their grandchildren.
Daryl Osborne and his wife, Suzan, are 38 year members of Hendricks Power Cooperative and reside in Guilford Township.  They have two children and five grandchildren.
Daryl retired in 2015 from a career in accounting and financial management spanning 38 years, including 35 with Baldwin & Lyons, Inc., Carmel, Indiana, now known as Protective Insurance Corporation.  For the majority of his tenure there, he served as an officer, most recently as Treasurer of Baldwin & Lyons and Vice President and Director of Protective Insurance Company.  His responsibilities included accounting management and financial reporting to shareholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission and insurance regulators.  Skilled in actuarial reserving principles, he was also responsible for setting the Company’s reserves for incurred but not reported losses and was liaison to the independent actuaries.
Prior to joining Baldwin & Lyons, Daryl was a staff accountant with Fowler, Suttles and Company, CPAs, Indianapolis, and, while still attending Indiana University, was the Prequalification Auditor for the Indiana State Highway Commission.  Currently, Daryl and Suzan own and operate Grampa’s Cedar Works, LLC, which manufactures outdoor furniture, accessories and art.
Daryl served on the board of Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana for 6 years including 3 years as Board President.  He was also Chairman of Meals on Wheels’ building campaign that resulted in the acquisition of the Sol Center located in historic Lockerbie in Indianapolis.  Daryl is past President of the Kiwanis Club of Plainfield and the Sertoma Club of North Indianapolis and served 5 years as Treasurer of the Plainfield Monthly Meeting of Friends.  He also coached youth basketball and soccer.
A 1978 graduate of Indiana University, he received his CPA certification in 1981.
Daryl is a veteran of the United States Air Force and a former member of the Ohio Air National Guard, trained as a communications and relay center equipment repairman.  While in the military, he held a Top Secret security clearance.

 Brent Shay and his wife Terri have been residents of Hendricks County for over 30 years. Shay is currently the Vice President of Sales for Eby-Brown in Plainfield. He has extensive sales and management experience in the distribution industry. Shay serves on the Indiana Retailer Grocer Association Board, Indianapolis Petroleum Club Board, as Treasurer for the Indiana Wholesale Distributors Association, and as a Precinct Committeeman for Guilford Township. Brent and Terri have two children, Monica and Blake. They are active members of Plainfield Christian Church.



Andy Lynch is the incumbent director seeking re-election in Area 2. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Economics. While attending Purdue, Lynch worked at the cooperative as a summer employee.  After graduation, he took a job with Himsel Brothers Grain and Livestock, where he is presently employed. Lynch has served on the Hendricks Power Cooperative Board of Directors since 1998 and is currently the Treasurer. 


Matt Hession is the incumbent director seeking re-election in Area 3. He is a native of Brownsburg where he graduated from Brownsburg High School. He farms with his brother, raising corn, soybeans and hay. Hession has been a member of the cooperative for 29 years, and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 1993 where he currently serves as Vice President. Matt and his wife, Debbie, have three children and are active members of St. Malachy Church in Brownsburg.
